I’ve done my time, I’ve done my best
No longer will I see the sun setting or the moon bright in the sky
No longer will I be part of your life for down under, I will lie
Here I am entombed as I was at my conception; nothing more for me now; I have no misconception.
I’ve done my time; I’ve done my best and now it’s time to be laid down to rest
It’s been a fascinating journey, one I did not want to end; I’m saddened by my parting, it would be hard to otherwise pretend
But alas I join you here today as custom does require, to formally say my goodbyes to you for that is what I desire
I want to thank you sincerely for all you’ve done for me. I’ve really appreciated you being in my life, hopefully that was plain to see.
Generations have come and gone replacing one and other.
For a while you’ll have your memories, well, some of you at least. But as generations pass, so will they, together with the deceased
Anyway, lets move on from this morbid talk, let me give more consideration to you my dearest guests,
You never know, for some of you, I may even have made you a bequest.
I’m shortly to be placed into the ground or scattered to the wind having done my bit and lived my life, eventually to be binned.
Hence is the way these things go, unless, unlike me, you are Michelangelo
Farewell one and all, farewell
