I’ve joined the ranks of the departed

I never knew this was coming when it did, maybe that is a better way to go
Whether or not you share my thoughts, that I will never now know.

I’ve joined the ranks of the departed, making room for those to come
Though for how long we can sustain such worldly growth, leaves me cold; excuse the pun!

Can I thank you all for being here, whoever you may be
Close, distant, friends and family; saying hello and, goodbye to me

We’ve shared some happy moments; shown our love in many ways
Oh, we have so many memories, of those shared and joyous days

I hope my affairs are left complete, simplistic for those concerned
They had better be, for sadly, my passing cannot be adjourned

So, its time to wind up my final words and wish you all goodbye
Gone I have though unexpected, of that, no one can deny
