I’ve lived my life and lived it well

I’m uncertain as to what to say, grieving as you will be

Though of course I can no longer say anything; I am a permanent absentee!

My parting was inevitable; I knew I was failing fast

And thank those of you who cared for me, until the very last

I appreciated you being in my life, for the love and the joy that you gave

And the times that we visited each other and left with a kiss, and a wave.

I’ve lived my life and lived it well, likewise you must do

For what I learnt in my later years, was that these later years were few.

We’re here today to say goodbye and yes, from me to you

So, goodbye my friends and family, my love goes with you too.
