My days on earth are done

Welcome dear friends and family
Though to a sad occasion you come
This, my one and only funeral
My days on earth are done

Some of you have been close to me
More recent or in the dim past
And some until my parting hours
Until my flame went out at last

I thank you for the joys you brought me
And the happiness that you gave
I thank you for being my friend
From the cradle to the ultimate, my grave

You will have your memories
Mine are sadly now gone
Yours will continue as long as they will
Enjoy them, for memories live on

I hope today can also be a celebration
For who I have been whilst my sun did shine
For what I have done, for what I have said, of my contribution
To your lives, to mankind, during my time
