No, it’s not a wedding

No, it’s not a wedding as joyous as that would be
Nor is it a Christening, that’s for the newcomers not me
This is just my farewell bash, my last I’m sad to say
But let’s not get too remorseful, we need our strength to pray
We’ll sing a song and hopefully one I’d like and hear the preacher impart,
Some words of comfort to ease your pain and the sadness some may feel in their heart
But please my friends and family let me thank you for being here
In life I did, and in death I will, hold you very dear
I hope you enjoyed our together days and will remember me in the years ahead
My farewell bash is near over; there’s nothing else to be said.
Oh, I forgot; if they have arranged a more cheerful conclusion to include a tot or two
A bite to eat at a local abode when you’ll talk about me and you.
Reminisce and recall the things we did and those family and friends who also have past
Remember to enjoy and cherish these days as like me, you’ll see, they don’t last.
