Today is my day of closure

Today is my day of closure

Well, here we are all together, not a wedding or party this time
Having attended some solemn occasions myself, it feels strange to now be at mine
So, I know what it feels like to be where you are, this formal event to say farewell
And I thank you for taking the time of the day to join me for my passing to heaven or……….
Let’s hope it is the former, if indeed it is one or the other
As I’m no longer capable of thinking, I am at a loss to look forward or shudder
Alas dear friends and Family, back to the here and now
This is meant to be a day of celebration so let’s celebrate as best we know how
Yes, I know it’s not like a party, but maybe later that’s to come
When you can relax and move on from this occasion knowing our goodbyes are said and
done
I celebrate knowing you and trust your thoughts are the same
We hopefully celebrate all we have meant to each other through sunshine, wind and rain
We celebrate the good times together and the memories of times gone by
Of the months and days behind us when we laughed and, on occasions, did cry
We celebrate the love we showed, the times we roared with laughter
Our care for each other in those hours of need and being there thereafter.
Today is my day of closure, the formalities of my passing away
